Etisal Fund at Luxor African Film Festival (LAFF) reopens its doors to support young African filmmakers in preproduction phases
Scriptwriter Sayed Fouad, LAFF president, has confirmed that, on April 14, 2016, the doors will reopen to apply for the competitive African film support of Etisal Fund for the first and second work and beyond. The required condition is that the aforementioned projects should have received funding for their productions, which is the basic requirement to support these films after the assessment of scenarios. In addition, the candidates should be African and based permanently inside the African continent.
The project winner will receive an amount of five thousand dollars provided that LAFF logo is featured on the credits of the film and all its publicity and marketing materials. Step Fund, which is part of Etisal Fund, requires that the winning film is produced during 2016, with a scheduled premiere in LAFF's 6th edition from 16 to March 22, 2017.
Film director Azza ElHusseiny, director of LAFF and Etisal Fund, also added that Step Program aims to support African film production and co-production as one of LAFF's tasks and objectives in support of African film industry not only by screening films and organizing workshops but also to support and stimulate the making of good and distinct films for the next editions of LAFF. Luxor African Film Festival was founded and organized by Independent Shabab Foundation for Support and Development since 2011 under the auspices and support of the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Tourism (Tourism Authority), the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in cooperation with Luxor Governorate and Filmmakers Syndicate.
